Sydney Story Factory

Short film - Measuring Up

It was a rewarding experience working on a project for a good cause, that allows you to collaborate with the director and give input not only on artistic direction but also the script development.

The short film was to promote the Sydney Story Factory , a workshop mentored by volunteer tutors to encourage disadvantaged kids to read and be creative by writing their very own storybooks.

The clients had a draft script and the idea of mixing live action with few graphic scenes where the kid is flying across different bell graphs to help convey the story. After reading the script several times and inspired by the works of illustrators Oliver Jeffers and Shaun Tan , we decided to tackle the live-action/graphics section a bit differently, in order to convince the client we went ahead and created the animatic to show an alternative.
